Rainy Day Fishing Ideas
With the non-stop rain today there wasn’t much motive to hit the ice and get a fishing fix. Instead the day turned into an opportunity to practice casting and flipping with our rods.
When the rain let up for a short while we took the opportunity to go out to the field and cast. A lot of time was spent adjusting the new reels to try and prevent blow-ups. I chose to tie a frog on my line and it felt great to toss that out again.
The drainage ditch was full of rushing water and made a great spot to practice flipping, a technique I really need to work on. With grass, logs and trees there were plenty of areas to target.
However, the most entertaining practice came when Darrell tied a cat toy on his line and worked on his flipping while entertaining the cat. She chased that toy everywhere and followed its every movement. I do believe the cat is addicted to fishing as she will come running from anywhere in the house as soon as she hears the click of the bale. This a great way for an angler to get some practice and a great way for the cat to get exercise.
Of course, I have also spent plenty of time online today and WFN has been the channel of choice on the TV.
I believe anglers are a resourceful bunch and even when we can’t hit the water we find a way to pursue our passion.
