When Lems Shoes and the Outdoor Blogger Network provided outdoor bloggers with the opportunity to review the Lems Shoes Boulder Boots, I knew I needed a pair. The Boulder Boots looked a little different than some boots, so I did some research and was fascinated when I learned about the design of all Lems Shoes. Lems Shoes are made with less ‘stuff’ and are designed to be flat and provide a natural fit for your feet. This results in incredibly light and flexible footwear, which are also eco-friendly.

I have long had problems finding comfortable footwear. My feet are too wide for most shoes and boots, causing my toes to get cramped, and my arches never seem to agree with the arch support in most footwear. When my Boulder Boots arrived a few weeks before Christmas, I couldn’t wait to try them out and see if their claims of a more natural fit would hold true. Wearing the boots around the house, I was astonished about how light they are. The Lems Shoes website states that the boots weigh 9.9 oz – that is only slightly more than the weight of a Shimano Chronarch baitcaster! You could wear these boots all day and not feel any fatigue from their weight.

While I intended to use my Boulder Boots for hiking and camping, I couldn’t stand to leave them on a shelf all winter, only wearing them around the house. Although they are not insulated, I decided that a winter-loving Canadian such as myself should take them outside in the snow and have some fun. For a few days now, I’ve been wearing the boots around the property – wearing them while checking on the horses, playing with the dogs, and going for walks. Lems Shoes are advertised as providing a barefoot experience, and wearing them in the snow was extremely enjoyable. I’ve never been crazy enough to go barefoot in the snow, but I imagine my Boulder Boots gave me a similar experience, without the cold. I spent ages playing in the snow with the dogs – building snowmen that they destroyed, making snow angels, and having snowball fights (yes, the snow brings out my inner child). My feet stayed warm and dry the entire time. I have a feeling that these boots will get worn year-round.

It's hard to get decent review pictures without someone else around. I've been wearing these in snow that is about 6-inches deep.

Cute puppy pic since they helped me test the boots.

In the time I’ve been wearing my Boulder Boots, I’ve noticed how happy my toes are. For the first time, I have a pair of boots that do not constrict my toes in any way, which is a truly remarkable feeling. The tread even kept me from slipping in the snow, and when wet, they didn’t slip on my kitchen floor, unlike most of my footwear. They provide great support around my ankle which will be especially useful while hiking. And they are so light! Did I mention that already? These boots are going to be fantastic for all-day fishing excursions.

I tried to think of something that I didn’t love about them, or something that could use improving. I couldn’t come up with anything. These boots are comfortable, lightweight, collapsible & packable, sturdy-feeling, and useful in a variety of situations.

I normally wear a size 8 in shoes, so I ordered my Boulder Boots in a size 40. They fit great with normal socks on, but if I wanted to wear my heavy ice fishing socks, I think my regular boot size of 9, or a 41, would be a better option. Just something to consider when you order your Boulder Boots, which I strongly encourage.

The Womens Boulder Boots can be bought for $115 US on the Lems Shoes website. There are three different options, including a black pair that are made of all vegan materials. There are a couple of shoe options in addition to the Boulder Boots.

Companies with unique products and a focus on sustainability are always worth supporting, and Lems Shoes is one of those companies. The Boulder Boots are an excellent addition to anyone’s footwear collection.
