Help Feed The Fish On Family Fishing Weekend

If you’re looking for a great way to spend some time with your family while fishing, enter the Feed the Fish Tournament on Frenchman’s Bay, Lake Ontario, on February 16th, 2013. It’s a fun day on the ice promoting catch-and-release fishing (although you can keep your catch within the regulations) and, since it’s Family Fishing Weekend, everyone can fish licence-free.

The proceeds from the tournament go to help Ringwood Fish Culture Station with their programs. What does Ringwood do? Well, if you like to fish Lake Ontario and it’s tributaries in this area, you can thank Ringwood and the Metro East Anglers (the group that runs Ringwood), for a good portion of the chinook and coho salmon that get stocked into the waters each year. This organization can only continue with the help of generous donations. By entering the Feed the Fish Tournament, you are contributing to their continued operation.

If a day on ice, a day spent fishing, and the chance to support a great organization aren’t enough reasons to enter this tournament, maybe prizes will get you out there. There’s a cash prize for the Top 5, with the amount varying depending on the number of entries.

Tickets are $50 per adult (includes two youth aged 13 and under) and $25 per youth (age 14 to 17). Tickets can be bought between 9:30 and 11am the day of the event.
